Walmart-backed OnePay has announced its partnership with Telecom-as-a-Service platform Gigs to introduce its new mobile phone plan. Effective this week, OnePay Wireless will offer a $35 monthly plan that includes unlimited 5G data, voice, and text services on the AT&T network, accessible through the OnePay app.
Founded by retail titan Walmart in 2021, OnePay has quickly grown, catering to millions with a comprehensive range of financial services. Their offerings include cashback debit accounts, high-yield savings options, installment loans, a digital wallet, and both domestic and international peer-to-peer payment services.
Earlier this year, OnePay also expanded its portfolio by launching credit card services in collaboration with issuer Synchrony.
The trend of fintech companies venturing into mobile plans is becoming increasingly popular as a means of revenue diversification. For instance, BNPL provider Klarna partnered with Gigs earlier this year to offer similar services in the US. Additionally, German neobank N26 has teamed up with Vodafone to provide its customers with mobile plans, while Revolut recently opened a waitlist for users in the UK and Germany. British challenger bank Monzo is also preparing to join this growing market.
