Visa is partnering with various QR payments providers to facilitate cross-border payments in the Asia Pacific region.
Lakala in Mainland China, Touch ‘n Go Digital in Malaysia, FOMO Pay in Singapore, LINE Pay in Taiwan, VNPay, and Zalopay in Vietnam will serve as Visa’s QR connectors, enabling their merchant networks to accept Visa payments. This initiative allows consumers to use their preferred payment apps to scan and pay at QR merchants both locally and internationally.
T.R. Ramachandran, Senior Vice President and Head of Products and Solutions for Asia Pacific at Visa, stated, “These partnerships represent a significant leap forward for the payments ecosystem in Asia Pacific. Consumers accustomed to QR payments at home can now enjoy the same seamless and secure payment experience abroad.”
A pilot program will commence in Singapore, with additional rollouts planned throughout the region in the upcoming year. Visa is collaborating with payments technology company Juspay to enhance the technical capabilities of QR payment firms.
