Visa Introduces Tap to Add Card Feature in Three New Markets

Visa has introduced its ‘Tap to Add Card’ service in Ukraine, Georgia, and South Africa, which allows cardholders to easily add their bank card to their mobile wallet by simply tapping the card against their mobile phone.

The Tap to Add Card feature streamlines the process of adding cards, eliminating the hassle of manual entry, which can lead to errors and exposes users to fraud. Through this tap feature, a unique, one-time code is generated and validated by Visa’s Chip Authenticate service, ensuring secure integration of card information.

According to Visa, the Tap to Add Card service is advantageous for everyone in the payments ecosystem. It provides cardholders with an experience similar to in-store transactions, allowing for a faster, more convenient, and secure method to add cards to digital wallets, thus promoting greater adoption of digital payments.

For issuers, this service can mitigate the risks and costs related to provisioning fraud, simplify the process of adding cards to wallets, reduce the volume of customer service inquiries, and enhance transaction approval rates. Additionally, digital wallets benefit from adhering to Visa’s security standards, minimizing the risk of card compromise and potentially increasing token provisioning rates by reducing the likelihood of entry errors. The service also opens up possibilities for new customer experiences.
