Triodos UK CEO Resigns from Ethical Banking Role

Bevis Watts, CEO of Triodos Bank UK, has announced his decision to step down after a decade of leadership at the ethical banking institution.

During his nearly 15-year tenure with Triodos Bank, spanning two separate periods, Watts has overseen significant changes within the organization. Under his guidance, the bank transitioned from being strictly a telephone and online savings provider to a full-fledged current account and mobile banking service. Furthermore, it expanded its investment product offerings and became the first UK bank to introduce an investment crowdfunding platform.

Watts expressed his gratitude for the collaboration and support he received from customers and staff, stating, “I am immensely thankful for the backing of our customers and colleagues. Together, we have accomplished remarkable milestones in developing this bank. More importantly, we have spearheaded the funding of several national ‘firsts’ in social and environmental initiatives, positioning ourselves at the forefront of advocating for transformative changes within the financial system.”

Watts will remain in his role until June 2025 as the bank initiates the search for his successor. Gary Page, chair of Triodos Bank UK, acknowledged Watts’s significant contributions, remarking, “The bank has grown into a much larger and more impactful organization under Bevis’s transformative leadership. With a strong team in place, we are poised to continue our mission of financing change and reshaping finance. I am pleased that Bevis will assist in the transition process with his successor.”
