Gigs, a telecom-as-a-service platform designed to streamline the process for companies selling phone and data plans, has appointed Rafael Plantier, a former veteran of Stripe and Nubank, as its head of financial services.
Traditionally, companies looking to offer phone plans face a lengthy process involving months of negotiating contracts with telecom providers, significant financial commitments, and the need to integrate with telecom networks while developing software to manage subscriber services.
Gigs claims to be the first in the industry to provide an API and white-label product that allows businesses to offer eSIM and SIM-enabled phone plans of various sizes on any global network. The platform has numerous application cases, including enabling digital banks to provide branded phone plans in conjunction with their credit or debit cards.
To seize this opportunity, Gigs has brought Plantier on board, who previously led corporate strategy and new ventures at the Brazilian neobank Nubank. His experience also includes roles at Stripe as head of banking for EMEA and as head of UK and Ireland at Tink.
Hermann Frank, co-founder of Gigs, stated, “Since our launch, we’ve witnessed significant demand from digital banks eager to deliver their own branded mobile services to create new revenue streams, enhance customer loyalty, and differentiate their offerings. We are thrilled to welcome Rafa to our team, as his extensive experience and industry knowledge will allow us to better serve the fintech sector.”
Plantier added, “Gigs has established itself as a pioneer by enabling any company to launch its own branded, programmable mobile service, creating a unique category in the market and positioning the company as one of the most exciting high-growth ventures globally.”
