Standard Chartered has appointed David Hardoon, a former executive at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), as its new global head of artificial intelligence enablement. He will begin this role immediately and will be based in Singapore, reporting directly to Chief Data Officer Mohammed Rahim.
Previously, Hardoon served as Chief Data Officer at MAS and held the position of Chief Data and AI Officer at UnionBank of the Philippines. In his new capacity, he will oversee AI capabilities and governance within the Chief Data Office, focusing on identifying opportunities for AI to enhance value and optimize processes across the organization.
Standard Chartered has demonstrated a strong commitment to AI innovation, having recently launched its own generative AI tool, SC GPT, which is now deployed to tens of thousands of employees globally.
Mohammed Rahim commented, “David’s appointment represents a significant strategic addition to our Chief Data Office. He will be instrumental in shaping and advancing our AI strategy, ensuring we fully leverage AI technologies to enrich our client-centric, data-driven services and operations.”
