Scotland’s fintech cluster has experienced a 24% job increase since 2021, according to the organization dedicated to supporting the sector.
As Fintech Scotland celebrates its sixth anniversary, it reports significant advancements in the country’s efforts to enhance its financial technology industry. Fintech SMEs currently employ over 10,500 individuals across 226 companies, with more than 38% of these enterprises having reached the scale-up stage, thereby generating additional employment opportunities. Furthermore, innovation labs established with leading firms like Lloyds and TSB are aiding smaller companies in growth through collaborative partnerships.
Scotland has also attracted international fintech firms, with 38 companies—including AccessFintech, Clearwater Analytics, Two Hands, and Mail Metrics—incorporating Scotland into their development strategies.
Jane Martin, Managing Director of Innovation and Investment at Scottish Enterprise, commented, “The growth in employment is a clear indicator of our country’s attractiveness to global fintech companies, driven by our rich talent pool, academic excellence, and well-established strengths in our financial services sector.”
