Santander UK’s CIO Takes Position at Biometric Company iProov

Biometric face authentication technology company iProov has appointed Miguel Traquina, formerly the chief information officer for operations and economic crime at Santander UK, as its new CIO.

Founded in 2013, iProov collaborates with governments, banks, and various enterprises to securely verify customer identities, facilitating seamless onboarding and authentication. Its clientele includes prominent organizations such as the US Department of Homeland Security, the UK Home Office, the UK National Health Service (NHS), Rabobank, and ING.

Traquina’s hiring is part of iProov’s strategy to expand into new geographies and use cases, including collaborations with Eurostar and the National Science Foundation. Andrew Bud, CEO of iProov, commented on the appointment: “The scale and scope of our technology activities are expanding rapidly. Miguel’s extensive experience with financial technology for a major bank complements and extends our team’s outstanding capabilities, enabling us to innovate and operate on more fronts globally.”

Prior to joining iProov, Traquina held various engineering and transformation roles at Santander, leading multi-disciplinary teams worldwide. He began his career at Accenture, managing financial services projects across Europe and Latin America.
