Santander Seeks to Fill 750 Technology Positions

Banco Santander has established technology hubs in Malaga and Warsaw, creating space for 1,400 tech professionals as the Spanish bank aims to accelerate its digital transformation initiative.

Currently, Santander is promoting around 750 tech positions on a newly launched dedicated website, targeting candidates with backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The bank is particularly interested in hiring specialists in areas such as platforms and APIs, cloud computing, big data, networks, DevSecOps, AI, software development, enterprise architecture, and cybersecurity.

Both technology hubs are operational and will primarily support the business functions of Santander Corporate & Investment Banking. This recruitment drive follows a commitment made in 2019 to invest €20 billion in digital and technology over four years. To date, the bank has migrated 90% of its infrastructure to the cloud and recently announced the launch of Gravity, its customizable software solution.

Alexandra Brandao, global head of HR at Santander, stated: "Our new teams in Malaga and Warsaw will be part of one of the largest transformation projects in the financial sector worldwide. This initiative is continually evolving, driven by a tech-savvy, open-minded, and diverse team committed to a strong purpose and future growth."

With the demand for tech professionals increasing, Santander has devised a strategy to attract talent, which includes the creation of the dedicated website and the BeTech! with Santander program aimed at hiring 1,000 IT professionals in Spain and 3,000 globally.

Brandao added: "Our ambition is to become the industry’s leading employer of tech professionals. This vision drives how we attract and support these individuals in their growth and development within our organization."
