Reno Mathews, Ex-Citi and Google Compliance Specialist, Joins Due Diligence Startup Spektr

Danish due diligence startup Spektr has appointed Reno Mathews, a former executive at Citi and Google, as its chief compliance officer.

Mathews brings with him two decades of experience from various fintech, tech, and banking companies, including Citi, Google, Robinhood, Meta, and Trulioo. While serving as the chief compliance officer of payments at Google, he managed oversight of licenses and exemptions across many jurisdictions, including the US, UK, Ireland, Lithuania, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, India, and Brazil.

Before joining Spektr, Mathews spent 20 months at the Canadian digital ID firm Trulioo, also as chief compliance officer. During this time, he worked alongside Spektr co-founder Mikkel Skarnager, who had previously sold his no-code KYC and client onboarding platform, HelloFlow, to Trulioo for over $50 million in 2022.

“In many organizations, compliance teams are often neglected in the race for technological advancement,” Mathews commented. “I’m excited to join a team of remarkable individuals dedicated to alleviating this burden from compliance teams by crafting tailored solutions that leverage the best technology and automation to meet their needs.”

His appointment follows Spektr’s recent announcement of raising €5 million in seed funding to enhance its platform designed to assist financial sector firms with their due diligence processes.
