London-based payments and commerce infrastructure provider Primer has introduced an AI agent designed for payments teams.
Founded in early 2020 by former senior staff from PayPal-owned Braintree, Primer offers a low-code API to help online merchants streamline their payment systems.
The newly launched Primer Companion agent is tailored to navigate the complexities of global commerce, understanding the language, logic, and nuances of a merchant’s payment environment.
Integrated directly into the payments stack, the agent comprehends context, provides real-time recommendations, and safely implements approved changes, utilizing over 400 data points per transaction.
Gabriel Le Roux, CEO of Primer, stated, “With Primer Companion, we’re addressing one of the biggest gaps in payments. Speaking to merchants globally, payments are one of the most critical yet under-resourced functions in any business. Often, just one or two people manage millions—sometimes billions—in payments, constantly looking for risks and opportunities.
“By combining Primer’s data and expertise with generative AI, we’re equipping those teams with the capabilities of a hundred teammates—offering contextual insights and automating decisions so they can concentrate on what truly drives growth.”
