NatWest Introduces Enhanced Interest Rates for Re-Mortgaging Energy-Efficient Properties

NatWest has announced an attractive interest rate offer designed for both new and existing customers interested in re-mortgaging energy-efficient properties.

This initiative is accessible through multiple channels, including in-branch consultations, phone support, and the bank’s website. Customers with properties holding an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of A or B can benefit from this preferential interest rate.

In alignment with its sustainability goals, NatWest aims for 50% of its mortgage portfolio to exceed an EPC rating of C by the year 2030. To support this objective, the bank is piloting a program called the ‘Green Plan.’ This initiative functions like a financial health assessment, utilizing APIs to identify actions homeowners can implement to minimize their carbon footprint.

Lloyd Cochrane, Head of Mortgages at NatWest Group, stated, “We have witnessed a growing demand for green re-mortgage options, and we’re pleased to meet this need. Our primary mission as a bank is to contribute to tackling climate challenges. As a principal banking sponsor for COP26 in Glasgow later this year, we aim to play a crucial role in reducing the carbon emissions associated with residential properties in the UK.”
