NatWest Introduces Energy Assistance and Support Tool for UK Small and Medium Enterprises

NatWest has unveiled an innovative digital solution designed to assist the UK’s 5.5 million small enterprises in reducing their energy costs and minimizing their carbon emissions.

The Energy Help and Support tool utilizes a business’s postcode to offer customized energy-saving recommendations, which may include options such as the installation of solar panels or the adoption of low-carbon heating systems.

These recommendations come with estimates of the associated costs for low-carbon upgrades, potential return on investment, and guidance on sourcing suppliers. This initiative primarily targets small to medium-sized businesses, which are responsible for approximately 30% of the UK’s overall emissions.

Recent research by NatWest indicates that 45% of small businesses view escalating energy prices as a serious challenge for the coming year.

James Holian, Head of Business Banking at NatWest Group, remarks, “Our research shows that many businesses can achieve significant financial benefits by lowering their carbon footprint. However, a majority lack the necessary support to implement these changes. This new tool eliminates uncertainty by providing tailored recommendations that enhance energy efficiency.”
