NatWest Introduces Carbon Calculator for Remote Employees

UK-based NatWest has developed a carbon calculator aimed at helping employees understand the environmental impact of remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with providing practical tips to reduce their carbon footprint.

With over 50,000 employees working remotely, NatWest Group has reported a 25% decrease in electricity usage across its facilities, while business travel emissions have decreased by 2,000 tonnes of carbon monthly.

Earlier this year, the bank introduced a carbon calculator that offered guidance on reducing emissions related to commuting. As a significant portion of the workforce is expected to work from home at least until the end of September, NatWest has now created an updated version of the calculator. This new tool provides recommendations for optimizing the use and charging of electrical devices, switching to LED lighting, and improving home insulation.
