NatWest has announced a collaboration with EV8, an innovative app designed to assist customers in transitioning to electric vehicles.
EV8 is a groundbreaking UK enterprise formed through a partnership between global consultancy Kearney, the independent low-emission transport organization Cenex, and the specialized firm Brixworth Technologies. This consortium is dedicated to developing cutting-edge solutions aimed at expediting the global energy transition by engaging with energy companies, major automotive manufacturers, car leasing firms, airports, local councils, and industry associations.
The newly launched app, named Switch, enables UK drivers to determine which electric vehicle is best suited to their individual needs and provides insight into potential savings from making the switch. Backed by NatWest, EV8 Switch is available for free download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Richard Forrest, Chairman of the Board at EV8 and Senior Partner at Kearney, stated: “As the climate crisis intensifies, many individuals are making modifications in their daily routines. Choosing to drive an electric vehicle significantly lowers emissions, and the EV8 Switch app empowers drivers to adopt greener choices. It allows users to make informed decisions tailored to their specific driving behaviors. We invite everyone to download EV8 Switch, participate in the 14-Day Challenge, and discover how an electric vehicle can fit into their lifestyle.”
James Close, Head of Climate Change at NatWest Group, emphasized the significance of this venture: “By backing EV8 Technologies, we aim to provide solutions that help individuals and businesses explore their green options. Our goal is to lead the UK banking sector in tackling climate change and actively contribute to transitioning the country toward a low-carbon economy. Collaborations like this are essential for accelerating this transition, and we look forward to our ongoing partnership with EV8 Technologies in deploying the EV8 Switch app.”
The development of the EV8 Switch app received support from the ESA Space Solutions program as part of a demonstration project titled Human Switch, with the UK Space Agency investing £2.7 million through the European Space Agency’s Advanced Research in Telecommunication Systems (ARTES) initiative.
