Nationwide Partners with EcoVadis to Create a Sustainable Supply Chain

Nationwide Building Society has announced its adoption of EcoVadis’ sustainability rating system to enhance the diversity, ethics, and environmental stewardship of its supply chain.

The Society will leverage EcoVadis’ sustainability scorecards to assess potential new suppliers, ensuring they adhere to human rights standards, environmental protection, and sustainable procurement practices.

EcoVadis offers comprehensive insights into environmental, social, and ethical risks across 200 purchasing categories and 160 countries. Imran Rasul, Chief Procurement Officer at Nationwide, stated, “As a mutual organization rooted in social purpose, responsible business practices are integral to our identity. We expect our supply chain to reflect our values and our dedication to sustainability. We are excited to collaborate with EcoVadis as we embark on the next phase of our procurement strategy, which aims to establish more sustainable supply chains and positions us as a leader in sustainable procurement.”

The Society has been actively partnering with key suppliers and industry organizations to advance its vision for sustainable supply chains. Collaborators include carbon consultancy Carbon Intelligence, Social Enterprise UK, and anti-slavery charity Unseen.

Nationwide has set an ambitious target to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations, supply chains, and employee commuting by 2030.
