Nationwide App Experiences Delays in Faster Payments

Nationwide users have been informed that payments are currently experiencing delays. This issue follows similar complications reported in June.

Payments from Nationwide and other banks, including Bank of Scotland, Halifax, Santander, NatWest, and Monzo, are queued due to a "technical fault" in the Faster Payments system identified earlier today. These banks had also encountered payment problems in June, attributed to a glitch in the same system.

In March, Nationwide faced payment delays related to a similar fault in its app. Despite the current delays, the building society has assured customers that they can still transfer money between accounts, make online and in-store purchases, access internet banking and the banking app, and withdraw cash from ATMs.

In a communications update, Nationwide stated: "Payments from your account are delayed at the moment. Some payments to your account are also delayed. If you’ve sent money or are expecting funds, you don’t need to do anything; it’s in a queue and will arrive as soon as possible. You can still send money, but this won’t go through immediately."

Update: Nationwide has confirmed that the issue has now been resolved, stating, “Customers do not need to resubmit payments, and we will ensure they are not left out of pocket as a result of this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.”
