Nasdaq Ventures Backs ESG Insights Company Matter

Nasdaq Ventures has made a strategic investment in Matter, a Copenhagen-based provider specializing in sustainability analysis and reporting.

This investment enhances Nasdaq’s ongoing collaboration with Matter, which supplies the technology for the Exchange’s ESG Footprint product in Europe. This product offers retail and institutional investors comprehensive insights into the ESG impact of their portfolios.

James McKeone, Vice President and Head of European Data at Nasdaq, emphasized the growing demand for sustainable investment options. “The need for ESG data solutions that provide both aggregated insights and a transparent overview of portfolio impacts will continue to rise,” he stated. “We are excited to strengthen our partnership with Matter and remain committed to delivering user-friendly ESG data products that empower investors with actionable insights regarding the sustainability of their portfolios.”

Matter’s platform enables users to evaluate portfolios based on impact metrics, as well as identify both controversial and beneficial flags through natural language processing-driven media sentiment analysis. The product assesses the sustainability performance of over 14,000 publicly listed companies across more than 60 environmental, social, and governance categories.

The financial details of the investment have not been disclosed.
