Mastercard has announced the appointment of Ellen Jackowski, formerly of HP, as its chief sustainability officer, tasked with leading the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.
At HP, Jackowski held the positions of chief impact officer and head of sustainable impact. Additionally, she is an active member of the advisory board for the Ocean Plastics Leadership Network and serves as a deputy advisor within the World Economic Forum’s Champions for Nature community.
Mastercard’s commitment to ESG began over a decade ago, focusing initially on financial inclusion, inclusive growth, and responsible data usage. In recent years, its approach has expanded to encompass environmental stewardship and robust corporate governance practices.
Earlier this year, Mastercard revealed plans to tie all employee bonuses to the company’s ESG performance, building upon a similar framework already in place for senior executives.
Jackowski expressed her enthusiasm about joining Mastercard, stating, “The company has demonstrated a strong commitment to its objectives and the significant impact it can create. I look forward to contributing to a team that is dedicated to fostering a more equitable and inclusive world.”
