Lunar, the Nordic challenger bank, has named Nanna Bergmann from The Bank of London to head Moonrise, its newly launched Banking-as-a-Service division.
Established as a separate entity in December, Moonrise aims to enhance financial connectivity for payment businesses, facilitating seamless operations across Denmark, Norway, and Sweden through a unified API. This includes providing virtual accounts and enabling real-time payments throughout the Nordic region.
“Nanna brings invaluable expertise and a strategic vision that align perfectly with Moonrise’s mission to meet the increasing demand for real-time, integrated banking solutions in the Nordics,” stated Ken Villum Klausen, CEO and founder of Lunar. “Her appointment underscores our unwavering commitment to the success of Moonrise as an independent entity.”
Bergmann, recently transitioned from The Bank of London, has a robust background, having previously held leadership roles at Google UK, S360, and Aria Foods.
“I am thrilled to join Moonrise at such a critical juncture,” she expressed. “The market is primed for transformation, and Moonrise is uniquely equipped to provide fintech companies, banks, and payment providers with innovative, scalable, tech-driven financial solutions. The independence of Moonrise, combined with Lunar’s support and proven banking platform, forms a powerful synergy.”
Moonrise is already making significant strides, boasting 15 signed partners, including PPRO, CurrencyCloud, and Trustly, and is currently achieving a daily transaction run rate exceeding €5 billion, with more than 25 prospects actively in the pipeline.
