The London Stock Exchange experienced two outages on Tuesday, causing disruptions in trading for many small company shares. Trading on the FTSE small cap index was temporarily halted twice before the issue was resolved early in the afternoon.
While no explanation for the outages has been offered, it’s worth noting that the FTSE 100, FTSE 250, and International Order Book securities were not impacted. This marks the third instance of trading disruption for the LSE in the past two months; small cap stocks faced over an hour of downtime in October, and last month an outage affected the FTSE Russell indexes.
