Lloyds Launches Two-Month Data and AI Summer School for Employees

Lloyds Banking Group is set to welcome thousands of employees to its upcoming two-month Data & AI Summer School, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing a digitally competent workforce.

Earlier this year, the bank established a groundbreaking partnership with the University of Cambridge, aimed at equipping senior leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the rapidly changing landscape of artificial intelligence. The Summer School expands on this initiative by broadening access to data and AI learning throughout the organization.

Featuring over 250 sessions, the program offers a diverse array of formats, including expert panels, keynote speeches, technical workshops, hackathons, and gamified activities. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics such as Agentic and Generative AI, data strategy, data visualization, machine learning, and data management.

To foster participation, engaging challenges and prizes are integrated into the program. Last year’s inaugural edition saw over 44,000 employees take part.

Ranil Boteju, Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Lloyds, expressed enthusiasm for this year’s event, stating, “We are thrilled that our Data and AI Summer School is back, bigger and better than ever. Our goal is to democratize data and AI across the organization while fostering confidence, capability, and curiosity at all levels.”

This initiative aligns with Lloyds Banking Group’s broader transformation strategy, supported by a £4 billion investment in technology, data, people, and operations. The bank currently has more than 100 AI use cases at various stages of implementation and has established a Centre of Excellence for AI to cultivate in-house expertise.

The Summer School will include sessions such as:

– How Agentic AI is Transforming Financial Services
– Google’s 6-Hour AI Prompt Engineering in 30 Minutes
– The Art of Data Visualization
– Data Storytelling with Google
– Understanding Reinforcement Learning
