Lloyds Announces Winners of Sustainability Competition

Lloyds has announced the winners of a competition aimed at discovering innovative green technology businesses to aid its transition to net-zero carbon operations.

In partnership with Wates Group, a firm specializing in construction, residential development, and property services, Lloyds launched this sustainability innovation competition. Over 100 companies submitted applications, with finalists presenting their ideas in a Dragon’s Den-style event.

The winning entries range from an intelligent thermostat designed to enhance air conditioning efficiency to eco-friendly bacteria capable of unclogging urinals and minimizing wastewater. These groundbreaking products will be piloted in Lloyds branches and offices.

A budget of £100,000 has been allocated for testing these technologies in real-world conditions, assessing their potential for broader implementation. Matteo Deidda, Lloyds’ Senior Sustainability Manager, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “This provides a significant opportunity to accelerate our journey towards a sustainable future and fulfill our operational climate commitments.”
