Leading Fintech Executives Unite in Innovate Finance’s ‘Unicorn Council’

Innovate Finance has gathered the CEOs and founders of the UK’s largest fintech companies to establish a ‘Unicorn Council’ aimed at lobbying the government on behalf of the industry.

The Council will be co-chaired by Janine Hirt, CEO of Innovate Finance, along with a steering committee of fintech leaders including Philip Belamant, CEO of Zilch, and Charles McManus, CEO of Clearbank. Other members will include executives from Monzo, Revolut, Zopa, Allica Bank, and others.

This initiative will provide the government with essential policy recommendations to help the country tackle investment and growth challenges over the next decade. Additionally, the Unicorn Council for UK FinTech will collaborate with the Startup Coalition’s Unicorn Project for Tech, launched concurrently, to create a unified forum for UK unicorns across all sectors, establishing a collective voice for British innovators at the highest levels of government and policymaking.

Janine Hirt stated: “In recent years, UK fintech has demonstrated resilience, maintaining its position as a global investment hub, second only to the US and leading in Europe. However, to stay at the forefront, we must accelerate collaboration with industry, government, and regulators to ensure robust support for growth tech companies, including proactive regulation and enhanced investment.”
