Klarna Launches AI-Driven Photo Tool for Shoppers

Klarna has introduced a cutting-edge AI tool that enables shoppers to capture images of products and styles in their environment. This innovative feature instantly identifies where to purchase these items and helps users find the best deals through Klarna’s app.

The shopping lens incorporates advanced visual recognition technology, capable of identifying over 10 million products—ranging from clothing and home decor to electronics. It seamlessly integrates with more than 50 million offers from various retailers, enhancing the shopping experience in countries such as the US, UK, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.

This initiative builds on Klarna’s previous AI-driven discovery shopping feed, which recommends products tailored to individual preferences. Additionally, the company has launched shoppable videos in the US and Europe, featuring engaging content such as unboxings, tutorials, and product reviews from its creative community.

Furthermore, Klarna is rolling out a new feature that allows consumers to scan barcodes for access to customer reviews, explore color options, and discover more competitive pricing online.

Klarna’s CEO, Sebastian Siemiatkowski, emphasizes the transformative potential of AI, stating: “Just as the internet democratized access to information, AI democratizes access to intelligence, context, and personalization. At Klarna, we’re harnessing this technology to bridge the gap between the physical and digital realms, enriching the way people find inspiration and how computers facilitate searches.”

Siemiatkowski is also an advocate for OpenAI’s innovations; he recently shared that approximately half of Klarna’s workforce is now utilizing the enterprise version of ChatGPT.
