JPMorgan Instructs Employees to Register Biometric Data for Access to New Headquarters

JPMorgan Chase employees will soon replace traditional ID badges with biometric scanning methods, utilizing either fingerprints or iris recognition to gain entry to the bank’s new headquarters in New York City.

Initially, the bank aimed to make the registration of biometric data optional; however, recent communications indicate that it has now become a compulsory measure, as reported by the Financial Times. This shift is intended to enhance both security and convenience for staff.

Since August, employees have been transitioning to the new Manhattan location, with an anticipated total of 10,000 staff members expected to be based there by year-end. Notably, biometric registration remains optional for employees accessing other JPMorgan facilities, including the London office, according to reports from the Guardian.

Earlier this year, JPMorgan mandated a return to the office, revoking hybrid work arrangements for its workforce of over 300,000, now requiring them to be present in the office five days a week.
