HSBC UK Unveils New Fraud Awareness App for Businesses

HSBC has introduced a fraud awareness app designed to keep businesses informed about new and emerging scams.

The free app not only sends users notifications about the latest scams and fraud tactics but also offers advice and tips on how to avoid being victimized by fraud. Additionally, it features real-life stories shared by customers.

Peter McIntyre, head of small business banking for HSBC UK Commercial Banking, stated, “We firmly believe that by arming businesses with this latest information and advice, they will be better placed to spot frauds and scams before they have parted with any of their hard-earned funds.”

Developed in collaboration with business clients, the app is being made available to all businesses, regardless of whether they are HSBC clients, following a successful six-month pilot trial that garnered positive feedback.

Danny Lucas, executive chairman and MD of fit out and finishing company Lucas, noted that his company faces numerous malicious emails daily.

“Online banking is the lifeblood of our business, and having an awareness of the scams that are out there, along with being informed about new tactics, is absolutely vital,” he said. “The HSBC UK fraud app, which we’ve been testing for the last six months, has proven to be an excellent source of intelligence for our team and provides us with an additional tool in the fight against financial crime.”
