Grasshopper, a digital banking platform for businesses, has launched a private beta of Narmi’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. This innovative system allows clients to interact with Anthropic’s AI assistant, Claude, to retrieve financial information seamlessly.
Through Narmi’s MCP server, Grasshopper’s clients—including small businesses and startups—can engage in secure queries regarding their financial data. They can ask questions such as “What is my current checking account balance?” or “Who are my top ten recurring vendors?” and receive instant, AI-generated responses.
This new feature streamlines various streams of financial data, providing users with tailored insights in a conversational manner. Whether seeking budgeting advice or detailed cash flow analysis, clients will benefit from real-time insights powered by artificial intelligence.
Currently, the MCP server is available to a select group of clients during this controlled beta phase, with plans for broader rollout across the bank’s business banking services expected by Q4 2025.
Pete Chapman, Chief Technology Officer at Grasshopper Bank, commented, “This integration represents a significant advancement in our mission to redefine digital banking for today’s businesses. Our commitment to offering convenient and intuitive banking solutions naturally leads us to leverage large language models.”
Claude is the initial AI integration, with plans to incorporate additional leading large language models (LLMs) as the pilot program develops.
Grasshopper caters to small businesses, startups, venture capital and private equity firms, as well as fintech-focused banking-as-a-service (BaaS) and commercial API banking platforms. Recently, the bank raised $46.6 million to facilitate a merger with Auto Club Trust.
