Google Wallet Enables Kids to Make In-Store Purchases

Google Wallet is receiving an update that allows children, with parental consent, to make contactless in-store payments using their Android devices.

In addition to payments, kids can use Google Wallet to access supported passes such as event tickets, library cards, and gift cards. Google emphasizes that payment cards for children can only be added with parental approval. Parents will receive notifications via email for each transaction their child makes and can track recent purchases, disable cards, and turn off access to passes if needed.

This update will be rolled out over the next few weeks in the US, UK, Australia, Spain, and Poland. A similar feature from Apple, known as Apple Cash Family, enables kids with parental consent to make purchases and send or receive money through Messages or Wallet.
