Google Pay has undergone a redesign aimed at enhancing the shopping experience by making card benefits more visible, expanding Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options across additional sites, and replacing CVV codes at checkout with biometric authentication.
Shoppers using autofill on Chrome or Android can now conveniently complete their card details using a fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock PIN, removing the need to manually enter a CVV security code.
Earlier this year, Google began piloting BNPL options with providers like Affirm and Zip for online checkouts. This feature is now being rolled out to more merchant sites and Android apps across the US, allowing shoppers to link their existing accounts or sign up with a provider during checkout.
Additionally, American Express and Capital One cardholders using Chrome on desktop will have access to select benefits for specific cards displayed in the autofill drop-down, making it easier for them to choose the best option. Google intends to expand this feature to include more card options in the future.
