Google Introduces Virtual Cards for Chrome and Android

Google is collaborating with Visa, Mastercard, and American Express to introduce virtual cards for Chrome and Android users.

Starting this summer, shoppers with eligible cards from Visa, American Express, Mastercard, or Capital One can use Autofill on Chrome and Android to replace their actual card numbers with a virtual alternative. Once a virtual card is created, users can select this option at checkout, streamlining the payment process by removing the need to manually enter card details such as the CVV.

Users can manage their virtual cards at pay.google.com, where they can enable the feature for eligible cards, access virtual card numbers, and review recent virtual card transactions.

“This is a landmark step in bringing the security of virtual cards to as many consumers as possible,” said Arnold Goldberg, VP and GM of payments at Google. “Shoppers using Autofill on Chrome and Android can enjoy a fast checkout experience while having the peace of mind of knowing their payment information is protected.”
