The Turkish subsidiary of the Spanish banking giant BBVA has enhanced its mobile application by integrating generative AI into its personal assistant feature.
Garanti BBVA’s Ugi assistant has garnered a user base of over five million customers within the past year, facilitating more than 60 million conversations. The recent upgrades enable the assistant to maintain contextual continuity throughout interactions, fostering a more natural and empathetic user experience. Ugi is now equipped to assist with a variety of tasks, such as credit and debit card applications, card payment inquiries, transaction-related queries, wire transfers, and general information requests.
Ceren Acer Kezik, Executive Vice President at Garanti BBVA, remarked, “Generative AI does not merely digitize banking; it introduces an entirely new dimension to the experience. With our smart assistant Ugi, customers can feel as though they are conversing with a compassionate, human financial advisor.”
Additionally, the updated Garanti app is designed to provide personalized recommendations. For instance, if a customer reduces their entertainment expenses in a given month, the app will advise them to allocate the saved funds to their savings. It also features payment reminders and conducts analyses of customer spending patterns.
