Japanese technology giant Fujitsu is set to conduct trials exploring the use of generative AI (gen-AI) for banking operations. The company has teamed up with Japan-based Hokuhoku Financial Group for these experiments.
Fujitsu’s AI platform, Fujitsu Kozuchi, will be utilized in the banking operations of Hokuriko Bank and Hokkaido Bank, both subsidiaries of Hokuhoku. Specifically, the gen-AI module of the platform will assist in responding to internal inquiries, generating and verifying business documents, and creating programs.
Fujitsu aims to identify promising use cases for the technology through these trials. This is not the first instance of Fujitsu testing gen-AI with a Japanese bank; in June, they announced a similar initiative with Mizuho.
Several banks are also exploring the potential of this technology, while regulators are considering new rules to govern the use of gen-AI tools, including chatGPT.
