DBS Introduces Eco-Friendly Consumer Platform

DBS Bank has introduced LiveBetter, a comprehensive digital platform designed to help users engage with eco-friendly practices. Through this initiative, users can discover sustainable living tips, contribute to local green initiatives, and invest in funds focused on sustainability.

Launching through the bank’s digibank app, LiveBetter aims to promote environmental awareness among its customers. In January, the platform will expand to include a carbon calculator, providing personalized insights into users’ carbon footprints based on their spending habits. Additionally, DBS is working on a feature that will allow customers to purchase carbon credits, enabling them to offset their greenhouse gas emissions.

Jeremy Soo, Head of Consumer Banking Group at DBS Bank, emphasized the importance of facilitating sustainable living. “We strive to offer easily accessible and competitive green solutions. Our recent DBS Consumer Sustainability Survey revealed that 73% of respondents are keen to adopt sustainable lifestyles if it is convenient for them. By integrating LiveBetter into the DBS digibank, we provide our customers with simple, effective ways to embrace eco-conscious living,” he stated.

In a significant move ahead of the United Nations COP26 climate conference, DBS became the first bank in Singapore to join the UN-convened Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA). This commitment aligns the bank’s lending and investment strategies with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
