Dapio, a London-based pay-tech company, has introduced its Tap to Pay app, enabling small businesses and sellers in the UK to turn their Android smartphones into card readers without the need for additional hardware.
The app allows small businesses to accept contactless card and e-wallet payments with a simple tap on the back of any NFC-enabled Android phone. Additionally, it includes an SDK for partners, facilitating integration into their own Android applications for business customers.
Kosta Du, Dapio’s CEO and Co-Founder, noted, “The payments landscape is evolving toward a mobile-first mindset, and we believe businesses should have the same opportunity to accept payments via their phones as their customers do when making them. Tap to Pay on Android will unlock safe and secure payment experiences for businesses seeking less friction and more flexibility in their Point of Sale system.”
In March, Dapio launched a waitlist for the app, receiving applications from various sectors. Notably, 54% of applications came from the transportation industry, including taxi and delivery drivers, while 18% were from students engaged in side hustles and 22% from the hospitality sector.
