Climate Impact Investment App Secures €1.4 Million in Funding

Cooler Future, a climate impact investing application based in Finland, has successfully secured EUR 1.4 million in funding from various European venture capitalists and impact investors.

Among the backers are Lifeline Ventures, Nordic Makers, and investors Gary Lin and Patrick Schmidt. The innovative app empowers users to invest in a portfolio of climate-friendly assets while simultaneously monitoring the carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) impact of their investments along with their financial returns.

The startup plans to launch a globally diversified fund that exclusively invests in sustainable companies and initiatives aimed at reducing emissions.

Founder Matti Rönkkö emphasizes the importance of shifting investor focus toward companies that actively work to diminish carbon emissions. “This shift in conversation is crucial for addressing climate change, yet public awareness remains limited,” he notes.

“Our goal is to integrate and standardize climate impact metrics within the investment industry as a crucial third benchmark alongside traditional risk and return measures. We aspire to challenge the conventional narrative by demonstrating the significant influence that investments can exert in the fight against climate change.”

In related news, Clim8, a London-based competitor currently operating in beta, began its rollout to a waitlist of 10,000 users earlier this year. The company successfully closed a £650,000 seed round last year and is actively conducting a Crowdcube campaign to secure additional funding, having extended its initial target of £400,000 to over £1.5 million, with the campaign now added an extra week.
