Sustainable investment platform Clim8 has successfully raised £1.26 million on the opening day of its crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube, surpassing its initial target of £750,000 by an impressive 168%.
This marks Clim8’s third fundraising effort through Crowdcube, with previous campaigns achieving targets of 300% and 500% respectively. To date, the platform has secured a total of £5 million from over 3,000 investors, including significant contributions from institutional funds.
As part of this funding round, Clim8 has already obtained £2 million from Channel 4 Ventures, along with a follow-on investment from 7percent Ventures.
Launched earlier this year, the Clim8 app enables UK users to invest in publicly listed companies and funds that are dedicated to addressing the climate crisis. The focus areas include clean energy, innovative technology, smart mobility, clean water, the circular economy, and sustainable food solutions.
The company plans to utilize this new investment to drive product innovation and expand its offerings. Notably, Clim8’s 2021 roadmap includes the introduction of a Junior ISA and SIPP (self-invested personal pension), along with marketing initiatives.
Duncan Grierson, CEO and founder of Clim8, expressed optimism about the future, stating, “Last year saw significant growth in sustainable investing. I anticipate that 2021 will surpass that, as more consumers seek to align their investments with their values and make a positive impact on climate change.”
