CFIT Appoints Ezechi Britton as CEO Amidst Fintech Growth

The Centre for Finance, Innovation and Technology (CFIT), a UK body focused on removing growth barriers for fintech, has appointed Ezechi Britton as its inaugural CEO.

The establishment of CFIT was a key recommendation from the 2021 Kalifa Review of UK Fintech. HM Treasury approved the initiative during the 2021 Spending Review, allocating £5 million to support its creation.

CFIT’s main goals include forming temporary coalitions of experts to tackle obstacles in the fintech sector, promoting high-income, tech-based employment across the country, aiding firms in achieving global scale, and enhancing access to financial services for individuals and small businesses.

Britton’s appointment concludes a five-month search for a CEO and follows Charlotte Crosswell’s recent assumption of the chairmanship from the Open Banking Implementation Entity.

Ron Kalifa commented, “Following an independent and diverse panel process, Ezechi was selected for his financial expertise and extensive knowledge across the fintech ecosystem. I am very proud of CFIT’s progress thus far, and Ezechi’s appointment—along with that of chair Charlotte Crosswell—gives me confidence in the next phase for CFIT.”

Britton is a founding member and outgoing CTO of Impact X Capital, and has recently been appointed as a Trustee for Crisis. He previously served as the CEO and co-founder of Code Untapped, the CTO and co-founder of Neyber Ltd, and held software development roles at Credit Suisse.

CFIT is set to officially launch in March 2023, with Britton starting in his role in April.
