CaixaBank in Spain has introduced an innovative service designed to assist its business clients in accurately assessing their carbon footprint.
This initiative has been developed in collaboration with Aeno, the official body responsible for standardization and certification within Spain’s industrial and service sectors.
Businesses are required to start by utilizing CaixaBank’s CO2 calculator, which allows them to measure their carbon emissions effectively. This tool helps identify primary sources of both direct and indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Following this initial measurement, companies can confirm their GHG Protocol Scope 1 and 2 emissions across various industries, including agriculture, waste management, oil and gas, services, and manufacturing. Additionally, Scope 3 emissions, which relate to supply chain activities, travel, and waste processing, can be verified on a voluntary basis.
This service not only facilitates the verification process but also provides clients with an officially recognized accreditation, ensuring their compliance with emerging environmental regulations and reporting obligations.
