CaixaBank, one of Spain’s leading financial institutions, has announced a collaboration with Microsoft to establish an AI Innovation Laboratory. This initiative aims to cultivate a work environment within the metaverse, harnessing advanced technologies to revolutionize the financial sector.
Under this partnership, AI specialists from CaixaBank Tech will join forces with Microsoft’s developers, data scientists, and machine learning experts at their AI research and development center in Barcelona. The lab will focus on creating concept tests, prototypes, and use cases to investigate the transformative potential of AI in financial services.
Additionally, the collaboration will explore the development of interactive virtual environments—metaverses—designed to enhance hybrid work experiences. A spokesperson highlighted, “The metaverse presents numerous opportunities within the financial sector, from establishing new channels for customer interaction and enhancing customer experience to developing internal collaboration models in virtual branches and fostering talent recruitment.”
Earlier this year, CaixaBank’s digital finance platform, Imagin, made headlines by becoming the first European fintech to launch a presence in the metaverse.
