United Creations, an apparel manufacturing company in Jordan, has implemented iris recognition technology from IrisGuard to provide unbanked and migrant workers with direct access to salary payments.
In Jordan, the apparel sector heavily depends on a significant migrant workforce, many of whom lack bank accounts and remain unbanked. Traditionally, wage payments have been cash-based, exposing workers to risks such as wage theft, delayed payments, and high transaction fees, while complicating administrative processes and reducing transparency for employers.
Previously, IrisGuard’s EyePay technology has primarily been utilized to distribute humanitarian aid in conflict zones, enabling secure and traceable payments to vulnerable populations.
The new private sector deployment results from a collaboration with Cairo Amman Bank (CAB), which has introduced a national-scale biometric cash salary payment network for unbanked workers. With a simple iris scan, employees can securely access their wages instantly, eliminating the need for a bank account, PIN, or physical ID.
As of November 2025, 74% of production floor employees had adopted EyePay, with complete implementation expected by year-end.
Imad Malhas, founder and managing director of IrisGuard, stated: “By eliminating the need for individual bank accounts and physical IDs, we are protecting vulnerable workers while enabling payroll to operate securely and efficiently at scale. Partnering with United Creations and CAB demonstrates how biometric innovation can enhance standards throughout the apparel sector, fostering greater transparency and trust among workers, employers, and global brand partners.”
