BNP Paribas has initiated an extensive internal training program designed for its global workforce of 200,000 employees, aimed at enhancing awareness of the environmental, financial, and social challenges posed by climate change.
Named “We Engage,” this initiative emphasizes the crucial role every employee can play in advancing sustainable finance, both within the organization and in collaboration with clients.
The training is delivered through a suite of digital modules available in multiple languages, addressing the diverse challenges linked to sustainable finance. Each module features a video presentation followed by a brief quiz. Furthermore, they provide important statistics regarding social and environmental issues while showcasing sustainable financing solutions developed by the bank in partnership with its clients.
Among the initial four modules are topics such as the incorporation of ESG criteria into investments, fostering financial inclusion, supporting microfinance institutions, promoting green bonds, and advancing the social and solidarity economy.
Antoine Sire, BNP Paribas’ Director of Company Engagement, noted, “Now more than ever, the future of our businesses hinges on our capacity to guide clients towards a low-carbon economy and enhanced social inclusion. Cultivating the necessary expertise for this transition is a top priority for BNP Paribas.”
