BNP Paribas Participates in €40 Million Funding Round for Climate Data Company Kayrros

BNP Paribas, in collaboration with the French Public Investment Bank Bpifrance and the European Investment Bank, has participated in a €40 million funding round for Kayrros, a startup specializing in climate data and analytics.

The capital raised will enhance Kayrros’ geospatial detection technologies, which analyze satellite imagery and various data sources to evaluate the climate impacts associated with economic activities. These assessments empower both private and public sector organizations to effectively manage climate risks, implement low-carbon transition strategies, meet critical sustainability objectives, and transparently report on their progress.

Antoine Rostand, President of Kayrros, stated, “This funding unites various relevant sectors for Kayrros. The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Bpifrance represent the public sector, while Opera Tech Ventures, the venture capital arm of BNP Paribas, introduces invaluable financial industry expertise—an area previously unrepresented among Kayrros’ investors—as we respond to the increasing demand for climate data.”

Adrien Muller from Bpifrance emphasized, “Access to reliable near real-time climate data provides a strategic advantage for a nation’s energy security, sustainability, and economic development. Leveraging public data from the European Space Agency, Kayrros and its partners have developed a comprehensive toolkit aimed at combating global warming, and the adoption of this toolkit needs to be accelerated. Bpifrance supports this initiative in that context.”
