BlackRock Partners with Fintech Scotland

BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, has announced its membership in Fintech Scotland, an organization dedicated to promoting the fintech sector in the country.

This move aligns with BlackRock’s efforts to strengthen its presence in Scotland, particularly in recruitment. The partnership aims to focus on “innovation and solving difficult problems through data and technology, helping more people experience financial wellbeing.”

Fintech Scotland boasts over 235 fintech SMEs and 35 established financial institutions. Scott Walker, managing director and co-head of BlackRock’s Edinburgh office, expressed enthusiasm about joining the vibrant fintech community, stating, “We’re looking forward to working with peers and the industry in exploring key themes that are critical to the future of financial services and important to our clients.”

He further emphasized BlackRock’s longstanding history in Edinburgh and how this partnership underscores the firm’s commitment to the local market while enhancing relationships within the expanding sector. Nicola Anderson, CEO of FinTech Scotland, highlighted the potential for innovation and technological expertise in Scotland to drive significant changes and address urgent challenges in the financial industry today.
