Bitcoin Now Accepted for Lomond Day and Boarding School Fees

Lomond School in Helensburgh, Scotland, has achieved a notable milestone by becoming the first school in the UK to accept bitcoin as a method of payment for tuition fees. This initiative is made possible through a collaboration with CoinCorner and Musquet, both of which are FCA-approved bitcoin service providers.

Starting in the Autumn term of 2025, the school will enable transactions in bitcoin, with plans to initially convert these payments into GBP. Additionally, there may be opportunities to establish an asset reserve based on these crypto transactions. This progressive move comes in response to increasing requests from international education agents and families for alternative payment methods.

Claire Chisholm, the principal of Lomond School, is set to publicly announce this development at Cheatcode, a national conference dedicated to bitcoin. Highlighting the school’s commitment to innovative education, Chisholm remarked, “For generations, we have nurtured inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and open-minded risk-takers. Our school has a proud history, including being the first boarding school in Scotland to unite boys and girls under one roof. Recently, we transitioned from the Scottish Government’s SQA curriculum to the globally recognized International Baccalaureate, which is highly regarded by universities and employers worldwide.”

This forward-thinking approach underscores Lomond School’s dedication to adapting to the evolving educational landscape while catering to the diverse needs of its community.
