BBVA Launches Tool to Assist Companies in Calculating Their Carbon Footprint

BBVA has introduced a groundbreaking tool designed to analyze clients’ aggregated transaction data and estimate the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from their daily activities.

This feature is part of the Spanish bank’s OneView aggregation application, which translates energy expenditures into tons of CO2, providing businesses with a preliminary assessment of their carbon footprint. The tool presents this information in a user-friendly way, using relatable comparisons, such as the number of trees required to offset a ton of carbon.

In addition to emissions tracking, BBVA OneView delivers actionable recommendations to the 120,000 businesses utilizing the platform, guiding them towards greater energy efficiency.

Daniel Navia, the global director of sustainable solutions at BBVA, emphasizes the growing consumer expectation for environmentally responsible practices. He notes that businesses are increasingly pressured to ensure that their suppliers adhere to robust environmental policies. BBVA aims to empower its corporate clients to achieve a unique market position, demonstrating that positive environmental impact can coexist with efficient and competitive operations.
