BBVA Expands Agreement with OpenAI to Include 11,000 ChatGPT Licenses

BBVA has significantly expanded its ChatGPT Enterprise licenses, increasing the total from 3,300 to 11,000. This decision comes after the bank observed that the technology enables employees to save an average of 2.8 hours per week by automating various tasks.

Currently, around 83% of users engage with ChatGPT daily, leading to the creation of over 3,000 specialized assistants. These bots cater to a variety of needs, including translations, document summaries, report writing, coding support, financial analysis, and legal inquiries, as well as enhancing visibility for marketing initiatives.

To ensure responsible use of the tool, BBVA provides employees with training focused on data security and confidentiality. Additionally, the bank has established a practice community that facilitates regular meet-ups and online forums. This platform allows employees to share insights, resources, and tools that may benefit other departments.

Elena Alfaro, the global head of AI adoption at BBVA, noted that the surge in licenses reflects significant internal demand, with numerous business units across various countries showing a keen interest in incorporating generative AI capabilities into their operations.
