Barclays has partnered with the University of Lincoln to establish an advanced agricultural technology lab designed to support entrepreneurs and researchers in enhancing the UK farming sector.
This initiative marks the 25th Barclays Eagle Lab, part of a growing network of co-working environments aimed at nurturing startups and scale-ups. Located at the University of Lincoln’s Riseholme Agri-tech research campus, the lab is set to empower rural farming communities by positioning them at the forefront of agricultural technology adoption.
The facility will feature a specialized robotics lab, a demonstration packhouse, and a model refrigerated supermarket aisle, all intended to provide valuable resources for innovators and researchers. Mark Suthern, Barclays’ national head of agriculture, expressed optimism regarding the initiative: “We envision this space as a catalyst for startups to develop groundbreaking technologies, propelling their businesses forward and ushering in a new era of farming in the UK.”
