Barclays’ Head of Fintech Strategy Departs

Andrew Elphick Steps Down as Barclays Head of Fintech Strategy

Andrew Elphick, the head of fintech strategy and open innovation at Barclays, is leaving the bank after 14 years of service. He announced his departure on LinkedIn, indicating he’s excited about the opportunities ahead but did not disclose specific plans for the future.

Elphick began his career at Barclays in wealth and investment management and subsequently held various positions in human resources, business management, and innovation. In recent years, he has been instrumental in fostering relationships with fintech companies, notably through the Rise program, where he led the accelerator initiative and hosted its accompanying podcast.

Since its inception in 2015, Rise has produced over 120 alumni, including notable companies like wealthtech WealthOS and the AI-driven data security platform Velotix. However, the program will be coming to a close this year.

In his farewell message on LinkedIn, Elphick expressed gratitude for the inspiring team members, supportive colleagues, and visionary fintech founders he collaborated with, stating, "It has been a privilege to work with you and a transformative journey for me."
