Banks Gear Up for Cybersecurity Showdown to Foster Awareness

To commemorate Cybersecurity Awareness Month in the US this October, financial institutions are organizing a variety of tournaments and events aimed at highlighting important cybersecurity issues.

The Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (FS-ISAC) has teamed up with Cyberbit to present the ‘International Cyber League Financial Cup’. This competition will feature two rounds of simulated cyber challenges, allowing experts to showcase their technical skills.

During this virtual tournament, member financial institutions of FS-ISAC will compete to demonstrate their capabilities in safeguarding data and protecting customers from cyber threats.

In addition, national authorities, including the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA), are collaborating to enhance the accessibility and interactivity of Cybersecurity Awareness Month for the public.

This year, the focus will be on the “people” dimension of cybersecurity, with the theme “Seeing Yourself in Cyber.” The campaign aims to raise awareness about important practices such as reporting phishing attempts, managing strong passwords, using multi-factor authentication, and regularly updating devices.
